Wild Flowers is an application designed to facilitate the identification of 1,764 wild plant species native to France and Western Europe. The software includes a comprehensive collection of photographs, allowing users to utilize the app during outdoor excursions without requiring an internet connection to access visual references.

It should be noted that the species featured are specific to France, with most also distributed across a broad area of Western Europe, as indicated by accompanying distribution maps.

The application offers multiple modes of use:

<li>Guided identification assistant: Users can input criteria such as color, leaf shape, or flower shape to narrow down possible species, often enabling direct identification in certain cases.</li>
<li>List-based search: Species can be located by their common name, Latin name, or family name.</li>
<li>Keyword search: A text input allows searching by partial word or phrase related to the species’ name or family.</li>
<li>Distribution maps: Visual representations of species ranges are provided for contextual understanding.</li>
<li>Ellenberg’s indicator values: These ecological indicators are available for over 80% of the listed species, offering insights into environmental preferences.</li>
<li>Personal notes: Users can create and record personalized observations.</li>
<li>Sharing capabilities: Notes and species descriptions can be shared via email for further reference or documentation.</li>
</ul>

For each species, a brief description is provided alongside key parameters such as size, color, and flowering period. The app also allows users to display all species within a particular genus or family at any time.

An integrated botanical glossary offers explanations of key terms that may be unfamiliar to beginners, supporting educational development.

To optimize clarity on smaller screens, images for each species have been carefully curated to prominently feature characteristic inflorescences and leaves in close-up views.
